Free Business Advice
As a tenant of the John Buddle Work Village you can tap into the expertise around you for free. We have business advisors and coaches on-hand who can help you with any queries or issues you encounter as well as help you respond positively to any challenges you may face as a small business.
We can also signpost you to 12 hours of free support from BIPC North East Citylife Experts who will share their expertise on a wide range of topics including: intellectual property, digital, legal, finance, marketing, HR , social media, and so much more.

Free Workshops & Masterclasses
We host a range of Workshops for people who have clear employment or self-employment goals and need to upskill, gain knowledge or require specialist advice. These are run by industry experts who have ample experience of running their own business.
If it’s growing your business you require support with then our short Masterclasses are ideal! Covering a huge range of topics from HR to GDPR, Marketing to Websites, Selling online and even Tik Tok for business, we’ve partnered with some of the region’s best-known experts to help new start-ups.

Business Mentoring
Our mentors know what it means to run a small business and are passionate about helping start-ups to flourish.
They can offer an independent and external perspective to assist your decision making, be a trusted shoulder to lean on when you’re feeling anxious or uncertain or even an outlet for discussing ideas, challenges and new opportunities. Not to mention they can help you access new networks and make connections, vital for any growing business.

Networking Events
We understand how important it is to converse with other small businesses, therefore we regularly host networking events to mix with other tenants and share ideas and maybe even frustrations. It helps to know you are not alone.

Buddle Business Network
John Buddle Work Village is a purpose built Business Centre which was created to support new and young businesses in the West End of Newcastle. Since 2004 businesses have called John Buddle Work Village their home, creating a substantial network of innovative like-minded entrepreneurs you can be a part of! This network of entrepreneurs remain part of the Buddle Community, so if you have a question you need an answer to or even just looking for some guidance there will be someone who can provide the answer. We are far more than a set of keys!
Surplus income generated from the Workspace is reinvested into the charity Reviving the Heart of the West End and their Explore Start and Grow programme which supports local people across Newcastle from all backgrounds and communities on their journey into jobs, self employment, training, starting a business, education, volunteering or social action groups.

“At a time when we knew the business needed to take that next step, we were nervous about signing up for a long-term lease and the options Alex presented us with removed that risk and gave us the confidence to step into commercial premises and we never looked back. She introduced us to new contacts and networks like Entrepreneurs Forum who were based in Buddle too and whilst we awaited the install of broadband, we were able to use a small office in the Work Village yet continue to run our warehousing and customer service ops from the new larger space. We didn’t last in that space long though as our growth intensified and we then took on a whole floor of space within Buddle House, but even that was straightforward with no barriers put in our way enabling us to respond quickly to the growth in sales.”

We’ve been doing this since 2004 and along with our vast amounts of experience and knowledge, we also have access to a large business support network across the region, which we can tap into on your behalf.
We also have a wonderful community. Not only do we have a fantastic team of staff but we’re proud to have a great bunch of existing businesses here who exchange ideas, work together and help each other out.
